Norris Tops Oscar Piastri in Sao Paulo Practice
Lando Norris has beaten his teammate at each of the last five race weekends.
The McLaren driver narrowly beat fellow driver and championship contender the Australian for the quickest lap in the dying seconds of the practice session at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
Norris, who grabbed the title advantage from his teammate by one point after winning in Mexico City a fortnight back, beat the Melbourne-born driver by a mere 0.023s.
Until that point, Oscar Piastri had been the quickest of the McLaren pair for most of the session before sprint qualifying set to begin at 6:30 PM GMT.
Max Verstappen, the sole remaining contender in the championship fight, lying 36 points Norris, was classified in P17 as his Red Bull team opted for a different programme.
His teammate the Japanese driver was the sole competitor to go off, though minor, when he lost control at the fourth corner soon after starting.
The Japanese slid over the track edges before sliding over the escape zone, and was fortunate to escape with just a slight brush of the wall.
The Ferrari of the seven-time champion also spun, at the very end of the practice, rotating twice through the high-speed Mergulho corner before the last turn on to the start-finish straight.
Hamilton finished practice in 19th place, one place behind team-mate Charles Leclerc.
Norris and Piastri were far ahead of the remaining drivers, with Nico Hulkenberg's Sauber P3, 0.619 seconds off Piastri's pace.
Aston Martin's the Spanish driver was in fourth, with Sauber's Gabriel Bortoleto fifth from the Mercedes of Russell and the Alpine of Gasly and Williams' Sainz.
