It's tough for the Australian squad to achieve unprecedented feats.

The greatest achievements have long been mastered.

This is the squad that has secured seven Cricket World Cups, in addition to another six T20 titles, and earlier maintained 1,294 days unbeaten in 50-over cricket.

The alternative records, the ones sought by the record chasers, are what's still available for a team that has achieved everything.

It needed until Sunday's three-wicket win over India for them to achieve their initial ODI chase above 300, regaining their record for the highest in the women's 50-over format, is, honestly, a compliment to the pitchers that have worn canary yellow over the past 50 years.

It's challenging for their batsmen to maintain a record if never given the possibility.

Finally, the result of Australia conceding 330 was skipper Alyssa Healy getting an opportunity to deliver her latest masterpiece.

Then best known as the young family member of renowned former Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she first played in 2010 after her country didn't secure either of the T20 or ODI World Cups conducted earlier and has witnessed all through 15 successful years since.

Success in the T20 World Cup came three months after her bow and seven global championships have followed from 10 attempts across formats.

The tough gloveman was in attendance in Derby in 2017 when a semi-final defeat by India briefly halted the run of success.

That loss "pushed us to rethink our standards," Healy said this week.

At the following one-day championship in New Zealand, Healy scored 170 against England in the title decider and was named player of the tournament. She guaranteed her country would not come up short.

The question of whether this latest epic knock exceeded that prior achievement can be debated.

Many contend the argument supporting the pressure of a final. Some might respond with the difficulty that comes when facing a record target and a raucous India-supporting crowd of 20,000.

What's clear is this ton was much more difficult to anticipate.

The Christchurch destruction in 2022 happened while she topped the run-scoring charts, but this knock came after six matches in India over the past few weeks in which she had failed to pass 30.

"If you've observed me in training, it has been a challenging time because I feel like I've had no rhythm completely," said Healy.

"However when you take the field, your competitive nature take over and you simply focus on the competition."

Healy's fighting spirit has continuously been her great strength - and a priceless quality in replacing iconic ex-skipper Meg Lanning.

She was challenged by India's rising star Kranti Gaud in last month's ODI series, out to the young fast bowler in every game, but this time it merely gave Healy's motivation.

A single came off the opening delivery and from there Healy was in motion.

"An opportunity to go out there and engage in competition with her and just have a bit of fun in that regard, kind of motivated me," commented Healy.

She achieved fifty in 35 pitches - her swiftest at a World Cup - and her century in 84 balls as she flogged anything short, scoring 21 fours and three maximums.

When she was removed her side needed 66 additional runs at a run-a-ball - a manageable total now needing a comfortable finish.

"To chase 330 is unfamiliar ground so I'm happy we have the assurance to accomplish that now," added Healy.

"Ideally we won't need to do it another time but, if necessary, we are confident we can succeed."

That comment will be the final thing rival teams at this tournament need to hear.

In recent days a feeling they will succeed regardless of circumstances has become more firm - this triumph succeeding win against Pakistan by 107 runs despite being 76-7 at one point.

Subsequently Australia meet Bangladesh before a match against longtime competitors England in Indore in 10 days, by which point a semi-final berth may well be secure.

It was at that stage they were eliminated from the prior year's T20 World Cup in an unexpected loss by South Africa - a match Healy couldn't play because of ruptured tissue in her foot as she captained her nation for the inaugural occasion at an important competition.

So strong is her resolve, she afterwards commented she regretted not playing with the discomfort.

Yet even as she subsequently acknowledged those physical issues have pushed back thoughts of retirement, this World Cup is expected to be her final tournament as skipper in one-day cricket and she is still to achieve a world championship as leader.

Triumph in India would take her to the summit of her final mountain.
